Yarn paintings are typically associated with the Wixárika (Huichol) people of Mexico. Along with other traditional art forms in Huichol culture, yarn paintings were used as a way to communicate with the gods and preserve ancestral knowledge. Directly inspired by two Huichol yarn paintings from our current exhibit, “Artesania”, participants will get the chance to make their very own.
