Knit Night

Whether you already have a project on your needles and would like to spend an evening working on it with community, or you’re looking to start something new, we will have knitting needles, crochet hooks, tons of yarn, some wool roving, and of course – snacks! Most importantly, we invite you to come create with friends old and new.

Paint Your Own Alebrije

Alebrijes are creatures carved from the wood of copal trees in the region of Oaxaca, Mexico, and are painted with patterns and fantastic designs from the artist’s own imagination. This workshop offers attendees the paint their very own miniature alebrije!

What’s a Zine?

Time: 5:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
Cost: $15
Even if the term “zine” is new to you, chances are you’ve encountered one before. Emerging in the early 1900s, zines gave independent and amateur creators a way to share their ideas far and wide. In this workshop, you’ll explore the rich history of zines and craft one of your very own!

“The Henry Hotel” Film Screening and Director Q&A

A historian tells a young filmmaker about Charles T. Henry, the man behind an important piece of African American folklore in Ocean City, Maryland. The filmmaker then imagines what Charles went through, nearly 100 years ago, including rules of segregation, to create the now famous landmark that bears his name.
